Monday – Maple-Mustard Salmon, Bulgur with Herbs, Zucchini and Carrot Ribbons

Tuesday – Pasta in Garlic-Almond Sauce

Wednesday – Sesame-Crusted Tofu with Broccoli, Carrots and Brown Rice Drizzled with Miso-Butter;  Whole Wheat Toffee-Chocolate Chip Cookies

Thursday – Manhattan Clam Chowder, No-Knead Bread with Oregano, Escarole and Fennel Salad

Friday – Caramelized Garlic Tart, Simple Arugula Salad

Saturday – Broiled Sea Scallops, Meyer Lemon Risotto, and Broccoli with Toasted Garlic Crumbs, Last Minute Chocolate Cake

Sunday – Quinoa Cakes with Eggplant-Tomato Ragu and Smoked Mozzarella, Caesar Salad

Grocery List

Produce

  • 5 oz. package arugula
  • fresh oregano
  • 2 Meyer lemons (or regular lemons) plus 4 regular lemons
  • 2 lbs. broccoli
  • 1 bunch scallions
  • cilantro
  • parsley
  • fresh mint
  • fresh basil
  • 2 large zucchini
  • 1 lb. carrots
  • celery
  • 1 lb. new potatoes
  • medium head escarole
  • 1 fennel bulb
  • 1 1/2 lb. eggplant
  • 1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes
  • 1 large head romaine lettuce

Dairy

  • 4 oz. soft goat cheese
  • 4 oz. hard goat cheese
  • 1/4 lb. smoked mozzarella
  • creme fraiche
  • heavy cream
  • 14 oz package extra-firm tofu
  • miso of your choice
  • small container fat-free plain yogurt

Pastas, Grains, Legumes

  • arborio rice (need 2 cups)
  • panko (Japanese bread crumbs)…this may already be a pantry staple by now!
  • bulgur
  • brown rice (really, this should be in your pantry already!)
  • 1 lb. cavatappi or other short, tubular pasta
  • quinoa

Cans, Jars, Bottles and Bags

  • sliced almonds
  • whole, roasted almonds
  • 15 oz. tomato juice
  • 8 oz. bottle clam juice
  • 4 6.5-oz. cans clams (3 chopped, 1 whole)
  • roasted sesame seeds (if you can’t find, buy regular sesame seeds and toast them as needed)
  • mirin (Japanese sweetened sake)
  • anchovy paste

Frozen

  • 10 oz. package frozen peas
  • 1 lb. puff pastry
  • 2 lbs. sea scallops
  • salmon steaks, preferably wild and sustainably-caught, one for each family member
  • ice cream for the Last-Minute Chocolate Cake

Miscellaneous

  • Kahlua
  • 4 oz. good-quality unsweetened chocolate
  • chocolate chips

  • garlic (you may need to buy a few extra heads this week, we’re using a lot)
